so, i've had a little dental emergency (though it feels more like a big dental emergency). consequently, the card collaboration and plaques that were to be listed in my shop yesterday will be listed soon, but not sure when...i'll keep you posted. type to you towards the end of the week, i think, once i'm feeling better.

it's a busy morning in the studio, but i wanted to pop in to tell you that this afternoon rachael and i will be listing our letterpress collaboration in both of our shops! we're excited to finally share them with all of you!!
we really enjoyed working on these together, it was a true collaboration from start to finish. i hope you'll love them as much as we do!

i'm glad it's friday. this has been a week full of challenge, but also full of friendship. though sometimes i say to myself that i'm tired of growing, tired of learning lessons, these lessons are terribly valuable ones. like: it's important to stand up for yourself, and standing up for yourself may not incur the disastrous repercussions you might think, even though at the time it feels as if you're teetering on a ledge.
the benefit in sharing these moments with good friends is incalculable. they are the safety net that makes it less terrifying to leap. and sometimes they are guides that point the way. gently.
here's to growth, and to fridays which mean you've made it through.
also, here's to beauty that comes along and shines a big bright light.

i've been working on finding just the right feel for my website re-design. these are a few test shots i took this morning for the handmade portion of the site. i'm not quite there, but the process is fun! more here.
i don't know if it can be avoided, but i'm really trying to take my time with the design so that i won't want to change it the minute it goes live this time. that's how i felt the first time around. even trickier is finding a way to incorporate all the ways i love to be creative on one site in a cohesive way. i am enjoying the challenge, and also thinking that before it goes live i'd like to invite a few friends to give a little critique. feedback is a good thing. are there any things about the original site that you find doesn't work?

the weather has been perfect here. not too warm, nice cool breezes, the sun shining. i've been trying to spend as much time outside as possible. today i found a good spot in the shade where i could tackle some design work while ollie played ball and spied a hedgehog heading home for the evening. i can't wait for the market on thursday, when i'll scoop up some sour cherries, black raspberries, and greens for the week. i'm quite smitten with summer this year!
with no time for a summer get away, i'm making the most of my time in town (and loving that so much!). early this fall i'm off to vermont and from there perhaps a road trip to maine (and loving that too!). what are your plans for the rest of the season?

i'm off to nook this afternoon to begin the process of setting up the shop, thrilling!
something gorgeous you can look forward to finding at nook: beautiful spoons, bowls and platters by the brilliant miranda meilleur! it was such a joy, meeting miranda at icff this past may. in the small time i spent chatting with her i could see where all the beauty in her pieces comes from. she is just the sweetest, kindest, most generous soul! i have a very special gift from miranda hanging on my wall. will share soon. to me it represents how loving and supportive and inspiring we can all be for one another if we are open. it also reminds me of how very sweet miranda is, and what a perfect surprise it was to meet her and her work.
miranda's work took my breath away and brought me to tears. it didn't help matters that miranda was in tears herself, overwhelmed by the whole experience and such a positive response from all who stopped by her stunning booth. i can't wait for those packages to arrive on nook's doorstep! and to share what comes with all of you!

hello and happy monday to you!
another tail end of a week slipped through my posting fingers! i was busy with little bits of this and that. i've been keeping track of life through lists lately, so i can't think of a better way to fill you in on all i've been up to since last monday...
*in the beginning of planning stages for my very first letterpress calendar! it will be a collaboration with the beautiful betsy dunlap. we are so excited!!!
*a photo shoot for the upcoming launch of another collaboration near to my heart: a series of five letterpress cards by my dear friend rachel hetzel and i. to launch next week!
*meetings in preparation for the upcoming opening of nook in pittsford (for which i am the new creative director!! again, so excited!)
*talking about big ideas with friends at the market. and making plans for second storie's big event in november. it will be here before you know it!
*took an entire, luxurious day off for my birthday on friday. such a perfect day...breakfast with c, a beautiful walk and splash around with c and o, and a great big, laugh till' my face hurt time with friends (complete with mini golf, a rootbeer float and fireworks!). i had such a good time i forgot to snap a single photo. went to bed sleepy and content.
*pulled over to the side of the road when my car broke down!
*took a lovely drive down to one of the fingerlakes yesterday (in c's car) to see one of c's projects completed. a wine cellar he built over two winters ago. gorgeous!
*set up shop at poppytalk handmade for the first time. it's home sweet home month over at poppytalk! stop by and have a peek, my shop is full of surprises!
*paused to reflect on how incredibly grateful i am these days for a very full life, and very good friends, and a loving, supportive family.
