hello dear friends!
today my heart feels warm and wide open, thinking of this perfect idea: obamaware! 27 different ceramic artists have created pieces for an auction, proceeds will go to the obama/biden campaign. the auction is going on right now, as we speak and will only be open until tomorrow evening. take a peek.
for me, there is something so right about this combination of art (especially functional art) and support of what is shaping up to be a sea change in this country. what a wonderful way for those of like mind to show their support for this intelligent, and forward thinking candidate. ayumi horie, who is the originator of this idea, is an amazingly talented artist, and with this effort a leader of something truly beautiful. an inspiration.
i find diana fayt's (top image) contribution particularly beautiful. she has quite a few pieces available. diana summed up how she felt about the event quite sweetly here.
also not to be missed (perhaps over a cup of tea) is this eloquent essay by sarah archer of greenwich house pottery.
it's ideas like this that keep me so totally inspired and eager to press on into a future full of new ideas and growth!
