fun projects: illustration for jordan ferney

Hello there, pals!

I wanted to share with you a little illustration I did for Jordan Ferney of Oh Happy Day for a series she's been working on with Yahoo! mail. It was super fun to see this project come to life, such a sweet idea. Jordan asked me to create a birthday poster with the words I'm so glad you were born, that she could then divide into 25 postcards.

Each postcard + instructions can then be emailed to 25 friends and family of the birthday gal or gent for them to print, cut out, write a message, and send. As the postcards begin to arrive, the poster begins to take shape, fun! I love this idea, and already know just who to send this to - I can't wait! Maybe someone comes to mind for you, too?

home again

It's a little belated, but I wanted to say thank you so very much to all of you who wrote a kind word or scooped up new decals last week! I went on a little vacation shortly after the launch and have been meaning to get back here to say thank you ever since. It brought me a lot of joy, launching this new season's decals, and all of you made it extra special. Thank you, thank you.

It feels good to be back home now, after a wonderful and much needed road trip with one of my dearest pals, Kenzie. I couldn't have dreamed up a better companion to head south with. Our destination was our friend Betsy's beautiful home in the trees in Asheville, NC.

Along the way there was an amazing farmers' market with the best tacos ever, zero visibility fog while driving, Fleet Foxes playing as we traveled through the gorgeous Shenandoah Valley (a favorite moment), lots of laughter and good conversation, lots of BBQ, lots of jam (I ended up coming home with 8 jars of jam - how did that happen?), epic downpours, some dreamy shopping, and Monticello. Our visit with Betsy was perfectly lazy, full of knitting and period dramas, snuggles with her sweet pups, and lots of great food (I'm still thinking of Betsy's pimento cheese!).

Sadly, I've no pictures of Betsy's amazing home to share. Deeply entrenched in lazy vacation mode, I wasn't feeling much like documenting. Ever get like that? I'm a little disappointed with that choice now, but the good news is I'm totally recharged and re-inspired for the next big push of work to be done. I forgot what feeling like a rested, sane person feels like. Feels pretty great.

of blooms and sun

Good morning, dear people!

I'm overjoyed the day has finally arrived to share a bit of spring with you! Seems only fitting that the sun's been out for days and we've truly turned a corner towards warmer afternoons out of doors, maybe a picnic, and definitely a road trip with the windows down. 

I've put together a little collection of spring and summer blooms, whirly vines, some sweet words, spaces for you to hang a warm weather memento or two, places to jot down a bit of winding verse, a couple of lovely little mirrors, and some words to welcome friends at the end of the day, for a lingering meal under the twinkly lights. 

I think the long winter has turned me into a romantic for this time of year. I hope you'll enjoy, friends! The shop is open now. I hope you might pop over and take a look!

Happy Friday!

I'm all smiles over here today, the spring decals are finally ready! I'm really looking forward to sharing the new collection with you when it launches this Tuesday, May 12. Hooray! There will be lots of blooms and vines for spring and summer, as well as new mirror kits and chalkboard decals. I can't wait!

To celebrate, I whipped up a little coupon card to giveaway that will be good for one decal of the winner's choosing, including the new designs. hooray for may

Hello, friends.

Spring has finally and truly sprung here in Rochester, much to my delight. Lots of flowers bursting on the scene after a month full of rain, as the saying goes. Last month was the rainiest April on record for our city, and I'm really ready to move on. So hooray for May, I say! Though there's plenty of rain still in the forecast it's time to look towards sunnier days, don't you think?

For this month's collaborative calendar  I teamed up with my friend Rachel Saldaña. I have one of her photographs pinned up in my studio that always makes me smile. I am especially fond of her kitchen scenes. Each time I see a new shot of her cozy, welcoming kitchen I find myself wishing that Kansas wasn't so far away, so I might pull up a chair and have a chat with my friend. She's a keeper.
